THE MATERNITY PROJECT

Ellen is currently developing a new show. She has become a mother, but is she still the artist she once was?

In this latest solo performance she reflects light-heartedly and affectionately on her roles as mother and performer. This is a patchwork of a performance combining her truthful worn-out self with her more glamorous performance image. In this show Ellen lays bare the myth of perfection and tries to speak for the underrepresented artists, the ones who can only snatch a few precious minutes to wait for inspiration in between fish fingers, nappy changes, digging for worms and kissing it better.

This performance has been shown as part of the 'First Bites' season at Oval House Theatre in July 2009 and was one half of a double-bill with Chloe Dechery: THE MOTHER AND MARIE.
